  • 17 Sept 2025 - SolarConnect (JHB) with Schletter, LONGi and Huawei

  • 10 Sept 2025 - Webinar - IBC SOLAR l BYD Webinar

    BYD Webinar

    Date: 10 Sept 2025

Learn how to design, size, and install BYD’s Max Lite Indoors and LV5 / LV5 Plus battery systems for commercial and residential applications in South Africa.

In this IBC SOLAR South Africa webinar, Ivan Holdsworth from BYD walked through the BYD ecosystem — from cell manufacturing to complete storage solutions — and then dived into practical, installer-focused detail on the Max Lite range.

    In this session attendees learned:

    • Who BYD was: global footprint, LFP cell technology, and safety (incl. nail-penetration test)
    • Where Max Lite Indoors fitted: typical C&I use cases, self-consumption and tariff savings
    • Technical specs: voltage ranges, stack sizes (4–11 modules), C-rating, temperature limits
    • Compatible inverters (Deye, GoodWe, Solis, Mega Revo, etc.) and how to match module count to inverter voltage windows
    • Installation guidelines: rack assembly, spacing, airflow, earthing, and IP20 indoor requirements
    • PDU layout, DC connections, terminations, and parallel tower configuration
    • Commissioning via the Max Lite app (firmware updates, time setting, inverter selection)
    • Safety and best practice: SOC alignment when expanding banks, derating in cold conditions, DC-arcing risks, proper fuse operation
    • LV5 & LV5 Plus overview: low-voltage residential/commercial use, parallel configurations, LED status codes, and quick commissioning

Whether attendees were EPCs, installers, or engineers, the session gave them the detail needed to spec, install, and commission BYD storage correctly — with a strong focus on South African grid and tariff realities.
