IBC SOLAR focuses on emerging photovoltaic markets

20 international partner companies receive "Premium Partner Award 2016"

Bad Staffelstein, April 21, 2016 – IBC SOLAR AG, a global leading system service-provider for photovoltaics (PV) and energy storage systems, presented solar companies from all around the world with the "Premium Partner Awards 2016" for a successful cooperation. On this occasion, around 40 international PV experts met to discuss opportunities and challenges for the photovoltaic industry. Partners from African and Arab states represent the majority of participants at the annual meeting.

IBC SOLAR is presenting the "Premium Partner Award" to its partner companies either to acknowledge their outstanding achievements during the cooperation or to recognise the fact that they have recently joined the group of international Premium Partners. 20 awards were presented this year. For the first time, almost half of the award-winning companies came from the MENA region (Middle East and North Africa) as well as Central and Southern Africa. More than 40 experts again took the opportunity to discuss current market developments and the different areas of application for photovoltaics in workshops and seminars.

"Aside from the European markets, we are focusing on the MENA countries and selected African markets this year. The interest in photovoltaics and specialist knowledge of this field is continuing to increase," explains Antje Anzi, Sales Operation Manager at IBC SOLAR. "Our international growth strategy involves focusing on long-term partnerships with solar technicians established locally." In addition to the MENA countries, the most important trading markets for IBC SOLAR outside of Europe in 2016 are South Africa, Namibia, Turkey and,  from a longer-term perspective, Iran.

Due to the high level of incident solar radiation and an increase in demand for electricity, photovoltaic energy is also becoming more important in countries which use traditional fossil fuels. Solar power generation is generally a lot cheaper than using fossil energy sources. Once governments have recognised the economic potential of power generation from renewable sources, they will promote the installation of PV systems by allowing internal consumption or even introducing support programmes.
